Greenwoman
20x16" In gardens and in arcetectural ornament, you have certainly seen the greenman. He is a pagan image of irrepresable life that has endured to this day. In the traditional greenman, nature and human merge together. The greenman never has any hair, though, and where he would, it is drawn in with foliage. I decided to give this woman some hair, and let it mix in with the leaves. She is part foliage, part stone, and part thought, as perspecives change, merge and tangle in...is it the sun bleaching out some surfaces?...or is it something else shining through as she looks at you? |
