Statement about this Site

This is a site for the development into uncertain, and all kinds of, directions. It began as a site for the display and promotion of my artwork, but my primary interest in drawing trees is to show an appreciation for them, and I have found this site to be a place to share this appreciation in other ways.

This studio is an open space. Yes, I have my studio, but this goes beyond that. Here, the windows are open, and the studio spills out into the world which blows back inside. And it's considered quite alright if some papers get blown around in the process.

Trees are objects of beauty, the giants of our world, and they are metaphors for being human. My feeling and working theory, is that by paying attention to trees, by cultivating our natural inclination to appreciate them, and by looking after trees, we can learn better how to look after ourselves. But I am not a scientist, not an arborist. What I have is a deep appreciation for their very existence, and wish to promote their health, and our health, in whatever way we each find is the best for us.

In this concern is my attention to environmental/health aspects in the making of artwork. Artwork is, in itself, a healthy act. The expression of the spirit is a necessary part of being human. We must open up our thinking and feeling to realize that the way we tread upon the earth is hardly less a creative act as is any piece of artwork.
